For Android users, one of the best ways to restore your deleted WhatsApp messages is to restore your backup from Google Drive. But It is only possible if you have set your backup option ON in App. If you have not set a backup option ON then you cannot recover deleted WhatsApp messages through this method.
Steps to recover deleted messages from Google Drive
- Uninstall WhatsApp from your smartphone.
- Reinstall WhatsApp and set up with your phone number.
- At the time of set up, the app will ask for permission to restore messages from Google Drive. Tap Restore
- After the Restore process, you will get all your deleted messages back.
For IOS
One of the best ways to recover your deleted WhatsApp messages on the iPhone is to restore your backup from iCloud. But It is only possible if you have set your backup option ON in App. If you have not set a backup option ON then you cannot recover deleted WhatsApp messages through this method.

Recover Deleted Messages From Clide backup
If your messages suddenly got deleted and you strongly desire to get those messages back. Then there is a chance of getting messages backup on Clide and can easily be restored.
To restore your messages form Clide, firstly you have to uninstall the WhatsApp app from your Android or iPhone. Install the app again and setup with your phone number.
When you will set up your account, then the app will ask for permission whether you want to restore your messages from Clide backup or not. Android users will find there backup on Google Drive whereas iPhone users will find there backup on iCloud. However, if you delete your messages after taking a backup from Clide, then you can’t get back up of your messages again.
Recover Deleted Messages Using Local Backup
Another option to recover your WhatsApp chats is Local backup. But these methods are beneficial for Android users.
Steps to recover WhatsApp Deleted Messages
- Go to File Manager.
- Select the WhatsApp App folder.
- Go to Database.
You will find all the local backup of the WhatsApp file in the database folder of the phone.
- Here, you have to select msgstore.db.crypt13 file and rename it to msgstore_BACKUP.db.Crypt12. This will be the recent backup file. You will find numbers of the file in this folder in msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.Crypt12 format. These are old WhatsApp backup. In this, you have to find the latest backup file and rename it to msgstore.db.Crypt13.
- After following those steps open Google Drive on your phone. Then click on three vertical lines and go to backup option and delete WhatsApp backup. In the next step uninstall and reinstall the app. After setting up the app will ask permission to restore chat from a local backup. Tap on restore and you will get back your deleted messages.
